ACT ONE: the 80s

Katsumi and I were doing dishes last night when I realized that a familiar and slightly embarassing song was weaving its way through my brain.

you know that song ‘jet city woman’?

of course, he didn’t, so I busted out my best Queensryche impression complete with 80s hair metal vibrato and gravelly catches to the voice. I think he was a little frightened, but I kept up in that way where you don’t really know all the words so my rendition was something more like,

“JET – city wooooo maaannnnn, da da da dada, yah da da dada, JET – city woooooooo maaaaannn, rrrah ya da dada, da da da dada”

so then he turns around and says, “you know what song I have in my head? That boys 2men song that’s like ‘bebebebebe – bebebebebe’”

ACT TWO: the 90s

and i was like MOTOWN PHILLY NO WAY!

both: (dancing) bebebebebe

both: bebebebe

e: not to hard… NOT TOO SOFT

e: (fervently scrubbing the frying pan) Back in school, we used to dream about this everyday! Could it really happen, or do dreams just fade away, yeah… Now everybody is singin’ now, it’s in this town, woo ooh! So we started a group and here we are, Kickin’ it just for you, oh ohwowow wo ohoh!
