The unfortunate thing about being me is that I’m genetically incapable of napping. Even when I’m sick, even when I’m tired, daysleeping is just not a viable option. This is of particular consequence today because recently I’ve also been unable to sleep when Katsumi’s not around. Friday night, he had to work until 4am. Therefore, I was tossing and turning until, guess, 4am. And I woke up at 8:30, coughing uncontrollably. And couldn’t get back to sleep. Last night, John left the party at 1:30am to wait in line at Target for the Wii, and got back at 8:30 this morning.
Basically, over the last 2 days, I’ve gotten 6 hours of sleep, total. Give or take.
When the boys got back from their 6-hour game acquisition, we all flopped down with our coffees and set up the system (by “we”, of course, I mean “they”, since I’m about as good with video games as I am with a semiautomatic rifle), and at noon Katsu and I dragged ourselves down the road to do another cake tasting. Is there anything better than eating a metric ton of wedding cake after a long night of drinking? I’ll let you answer that for yourselves, but my take is “yes, maybe” because ever since then I’ve had a sugar headache and a mild urge to vomit. When we got back to Wii HQ 2006, everyone else was passed out. Katsumi quickly succumbed, and I laid awake reading the New York Times Book Review and wishing I were a napping kind of girl.
I’m writing this while shannoxx tries her hand at Call of Duty 3, and the sun is setting. Soon, I hope, we’ll get some Chinese delivery or whatever because I need something to take the edge off the ball of cake sitting in my stomach. It was absolutely delicious, but a little rough on the booze gut.
I also lost my voice last night. Talking is actually physically painful, and when I try it I sound like a blown-out Tijiuana hooker with a trach tube. So sorry, I know this is pretty long for a weekend post, but I haven’t been able to talk to anyone in hours, and I’m sort of starting to question the validity of my own existence.
Not talking sucks. But the Wii is pretty cool.
